Currently Reading + Mini Rant: When We Collided by Emery Lord

We are seventeen and shattered and still dancing. We have messy, throbbing hearts, and we are stronger than anyone could ever know…

Jonah never thought a girl like Vivi would come along.

Vivi didn’t know Jonah would light up her world.

Neither of them expected a summer like this…a summer that would rewrite their futures.

In an unflinching story about new love, old wounds, and forces beyond our control, two teens find that when you collide with the right person at just the right time, it will change you forever.

I feel like this story is just too similar to My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzgerald. With the whole, Jonah having lots of siblings and Vivi being all supportive, and loving.. It was a complete clone of the aforementioned.

And Vivi feels unreal. I like my protagonists with some spunk and some spirit.. But Vivi is so completely unrealistic. I just don’t get her.

I guess Jonah’s okay. He’s being all broody and crap until now, so I really don’t know.

Everything about the plot, and the characters is super-irritating. I’m really thinking of giving up and adding to my DNF list.

  1. It’s a shame you’re not enjoying it! I’ve only ever heard good things about this book.
I’m currently reading I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson and Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte 🙂

  2. Haww! I’ve heard some good things about this book. Nevermind, not every popular read is meant to click with us.
I am currently invested in The Hidden Oracle (Trials of Apollo #1) by Rick Riordan and Just One Day by Gayle Forman. Both of them are great reads!
    Have a Good Day! 🙂

  3. I’ve been lost in the Outlander series for rather a long time now – read all 8 one after another then started on book 1 again! Did the same thing for Robin Hobb – waiting for her next one to come out soon!

  4. Awww, I’ve read reviews about how they too didn’t like this book. I used to want to read it but after reading more negatives than positives, I think I won’t give it a try yet…
I’m currently reading The Crown by Kiera Cass, though I’m still getting over from A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas!
